Unsatisfied
(Free-verse Poetry)
Clock ticking away, forever looking at the time,
Late again, wrong again, try again,
always hearing the chime.
In and out of love, in and out of lust,
In and out of everything,
trying not to combust.
Only God is constant, only He can see the truth,
Only faith can keep you sane in your foolish time of youth.
Overweight, underpaid, overwhelmed, renegade,
The balance is never level, either starving or too full,
Blinded by your naivety, can’t tell between truth and bull.
Another choice made, another path paved,
Another assembly line, are you really being saved?
Never satisfied for long, feels like a relentless war,
It’s your choice to stay here but you constantly look at the door.
You know what’s in your heart, but you let your thoughts get in the way,
You’re so used to freedom, it’s hard for you to want to stay.
Craving more, seeing the mundane,
Thinking of what could have been, not appreciating what remains.
Allowing life to unravel and turn into dismay,
Letting all the vibrant colors transform to shades of gray.
So disgruntled in a world so full of life,
Stop thinking of what or who’s been causing you trouble,
You're creating your own self-righteous strife.
